History: Wikia giveth and Wikia taketh. Today, mostly giveth.
AU History: Love grew up in Union. Neither of her parents were Enlightened; they had a reasonable amount of money, thanks in large part to her grandfather, who was a somewhat famous Ranger in his younger years. As he grew older, he retired and opened a store, which her parents still run; her mother is the clerk, while her father makes various objects to sell (including, prominently, wigs).
Her grandfather was an important figure in her life. Love respected her grandfather enormously when she was little. She never knew the battle-hardened Ranger; she knew the kindly old man who was happy to make things with his hands (though he was never an Engineer). He was happy to let her help make furniture, in little ways. He named her, too (and in a bit of Union being hippies, named her Love).
When he died, it had a profound impact on her. She was inconsolable for weeks. His loss left a gap that she couldn't quite fill. Eventually, though, her naturally cheerful nature shone through. That loss stuck with her, but she carried on in her life.
She grew up in Union as one of the people caught up in the events that followed Union discovering the rest of the world. Love was fifteen when Union first set out, three years ago. In that time, she saw a lot change: Union suddenly had trading partners, with people who came from other cities with new ideas and new things. Love grew up in this environment; her formative years were watching the world expand from the sidelines, while she went to school and helped with her parents' shop.
This affected Love a lot. She saw a lot about the world from Union, and much of it was good. She saw friendship and happiness blossom where people least expected it. But, there were scary times, too; the attacks, especially by the Elite Four, where her family hid in a shelter and half their shop was wrecked.
The thing she has developed the most fondness for, though, is the Divine Theater. She started attending performances two years ago. She is the president of a fan club. ...which only has a few friends in it, so it never quite caught on, but she persists. She has dreams of, one day, getting on the big stage! One day.
Love doesn't know, at the start, that she is an Enlightened. Specifically, she is a God of War, and she only has the Normal typing until she evolves. She thinks she is a normal human... but she is anything but! But this is something to come out during the game.
